My Creative business is starting to grow how do I manage it better?

This is the fourth article in the series how to run a better business,. Please look out for the other articles. This one is looking at the stage when you are starting to grow your business and taking on staff.

You are starting to become established and are past the point of being a freelancer working for yourself. You have a small team that can help with the work that you are doing for clients. You are still heavily involved in the creative process and will be responsible for this along with trying to exercise day to day control over the business.

Whilst the number of hours you are working is getting better, you are starting to feel overwhelmed. You are having to get involved in doing business things more than creative work. But you are getting concerned you’re a creative and you don’t understand business.

You need to make sure that you have control over the business.

You need to get a control over the business before it all gets too much. You need to start to understand the numbers behind the accounts and forecast cashflow, get budgets in place to control the spending and make sure that you can pay your bills in future.

You can do this by looking at the financials of the business and using them to make better decisions.

You need help to do this and use the financials to help manage your business better now.

The success or failure will be determined by the financial control that you have over the business you need to have a good understanding of the budgets and forecasts. You will need to understand the financials in your business and use them to make better decisions that will have a positive impact on your business and help it grow.

The systems you are putting in place will help now and also later as your continue to grow.

This is the time to build the systems for your business and start to make plans to grow your business and take it to the next step. You need guidance and support to make this step and get the freedom that you want.  This is not going to happen by itself you need to put these pieces in place to let your business grow and you need accountability to make sure that you follow through on the plans and dreams that you have for your business.

Each part of the journey that you have been has seen a leap in your business, the next step will be another leap and will give you more freedom both creative and personal.
